This was one of those rare flashes of insight photographers get. We see things that a lot of others don't, and glancing across the road to see a load of bikelocks lined up in a row wouldn't usually excite the average joe to dash up to them, lie flat on the floor and shove head and camera into one.
Not unless you'd had a few beers anyway.

I remember when I rode trials I had a similar kind of experience - where others see walls and giant blocks of concrete/fallen logs/bike railings, you see a section to be ridden. It's the same with photography. I can't count the number of times I've seen something I like that no-one else has noticed and felt the need to take a photo of it.
